Different views have been expressed about the main origin of pistachio trees in recent Iranian Pistachio sources. In these sources, many lands are introduced as the main habitat of the first pistachio trees. The first is called pistachio trees.

While one or more lands are mentioned as the primary origin of pistachio trees, including Iran, Afghanistan, Turkestan, Asia Minor and Syria (Syria) and Palestine are mentioned. Some have introduced the Mediterranean coast and especially the eastern shores of this sea as the origin of the first pistachio trees.

In general, the above lands are located in Asia and in the distance between the banks of the Jeihun River (in the east) to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea (in the west) at a distance of about 6000 km and are located between 32 and 40 degrees north latitude.
