Complication of pistachio fruit deformity
Another physiological problem of pistachios is the production of malformed fruits, most Iranian Pistachio of which appear two weeks after fruit formation and involve the loss of endocarp parenchymal tissue in part of the fruit. Deformed fruits can contain up to 14% of the crop. These fruits are conducive to early laughter and are usually smaller in size than natural fruits. The most important causes of fruit deformity are high fruit yield and imbalance of nutrients.
