But since 1980, with the severance of Iran's relations with the United States, Iranian Pistachio as well as during the imposed war and after that until now, many problems have been created in the fields of production, trade and international competition for Iranian pistachios, some of which are very complex. And it is confusing, on the one hand, during the last decade (1370-70), the amount of pistachio production and export in Iran has increased tremendously, so that in just two years (1371-72) the amount of pistachio export has reached 221 thousand tons.

This amount is more than the total amount of Iranian pistachios exported in the Pahlavi period (1299 to 1357) plus the amount of Iranian pistachio exports in the Qajar era. On the other hand, the extraordinary increase in the area under cultivation of pistachio trees and its rapid development continues, and we will again see an increase in the production and export of Iranian pistachios.

It is likely that in 1379 the amount of pistachio production will reach 380 thousand tons and the amount of its export will reach more than 215 thousand tons, and if this increasing trend continues, the amount of pistachio production at the end of the current decade (2001) can be about 400 thousand tons. Predicted.

It is natural that in proportion to the increasing trend of crop, the problems of Iranian pistachios in various fields of production (planting, holding, harvesting) and trade and export, and especially in the field of international competition.
